After years of hoping, planning, fund raising and searching 2024 was the year that we finally made it happen!
We bought a Planted Ancient Woodland Site which means the ancient woodland was cut down and fast growing Lawson cypress was planted and these trees do not support wildlife.
When camera traps were put out, none of the bait was taken, so that means no birds or mice either!
Our aim is to return the wood to diverse broadleaf and cone bearing trees, which will take years.
A small scale hazel planting has started and a Forestry Commission officer and forester will advise the best way to go about the work.
