Woodland Update Number 1 – September 2025

Sep 10, 2025 | Education, News, Supporters, Uncategorized, Volunteering, Woodland

The pond was dug out today thanks to Rod and his digger!

The spot was chosen because there was only bramble and sedge growing there.
We thought it would be wet but even 5′ down it was very dry and the pure clay was like sand!
There were no tree stumps or even stones so we may not have to line the pond.

We will need to wait and see what the next rain does.
Landscape Therapy is getting on very well with felling the Lawson and we can’t wait to see what comes up now there is light in that compartment.

Later in the year we will be planting hazel coppice there which will provide food for the squirrels, mice and birds.

In the meantime things at Howes Wood are progressing nicely.
